It s not that painful at present there isn t a way of opening garage doors hopefully one day.
You don t have to be anyone to use the sledge even unemployed can bash through walls and garage doors however for unknown glitchy reasons you have to destroy garage door tile twice first furniture iirc and then wall.
One possible solution shorter termwould be to take down a wall with a sledgehammer build a door frame and a door.
Would be to break down a garage door with a sledge hammer and park your car into it then rebuild the garage door with wooden walls.
It is also possible to break down a door with a melee weapon.
